Walgreens Weight Management review

A pay-per-visit virtual clinic from a national pharmacy chain that prescribes only FDA-approved GLP-1s at the makers' self-pay prices. The catch: it works in 28 states, and it does not handle insurance or Medicare.

What it is

Walgreens Weight Management is a virtual weight-loss clinic on Walgreens’ telehealth platform. The care comes from independently owned medical practices affiliated with Walgreens [13]. There is no subscription: you pay per visit, and the medicine is billed separately [3].

What it prescribes

Brand-name drugs only. Walgreens lists Wegovy pills and pens, Zepbound KwikPens and vials, Foundayo pills and Saxenda [2]. Walgreens notes that all four are FDA approved for weight loss in certain patients [17]. We found no compounded GLP-1 on the program page. See our Wegovy, Zepbound and Foundayo pages.

What it costs

Visits cost $49 each: the first video visit, every follow-up chat and any extra video visit [3]. Most follow-ups happen by chat [14], and a care plan may include monthly follow-ups for the first few months [15]. Lab work, if needed, is a separate fee that Walgreens does not price [12].

Where it operates

The service is available in 28 states: AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA and WI [9].

Medicare

The telehealth service does not take Medicare patients, but Walgreens pharmacies support the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge [10]. Eligible Medicare beneficiaries can get Wegovy, Foundayo or the Zepbound KwikPen for $50 a month through the Bridge [11]. See our Bridge guide and eligibility checker.

Signing up and cancelling

Safety and regulatory record

The program prescribes FDA-approved brand-name drugs only [2]. GLPLens searched FDA’s warning-letter database in September 2026 and found no letter to Walgreens about GLP-1 products. The Walgreens letters on file are about other products, such as eye drops sold on walgreens.com [16].

Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere

Walgreens Weight Management suits self-pay patients in its 28 states who want an FDA-approved GLP-1 at the makers’ cash prices, with no membership [9]. Look elsewhere if you want insurance to pay, need prior authorization help, are on Medicare and need a prescriber, or live outside those states.
